If you solely play in vanilla, you won't have any RAM problems. Basically, Mojang decided to allocate solely 2 GB of RAM to Minecraft with the new launcher. Also for the folks who like operating mods on this sport allocating more ram for this function may be helpful. as for now (default) it got about 1gb of ram.
